when are the course calls? 

The live zoom calls typically take place Tuesday evenings around 5:30pm MST (USA). The course start date will depend on when the course is being taught each year. In-person learning opportunities will take place yearly based on your instructor's availability and travel. 

"I won't be able to make the live calls due to x, y, z. I’d like to join this course, but would not being able to make any LIVE calls hinder my progress? Am I able to submit questions that could be covered on lives calls that I’m not able to make?"

Students will have access to all call recordings so the only thing that would hinder your success would be if you don't watch the recordings! Other than that, you'd be good to go!

There will be a community Q&A chat where students can drop questions that I, Chloé will answer directly in the chat or record videos in reply to or address on course calls so you'd be able to submit any and all questions to the chat and get them answered.

The entirety of the success of the course really lands on the student and how much time and effort they put in, and it is structured to support an easeful and manageable work load over the time period of 6 months!

is this a self-guided course? is IT a live course? CAN I TAKE THIS COURSE IF I LIVE OUTSIDE OF THE U.S.?

The MTC is 6 months long and includes 2x monthly teaching calls combined with monthly video modules and lessons for at home self-paced study and practice. The course also includes an online student portal where course recordings, powerpoints, video tutorials and content, and homework assignments are shared and accessible for 1 year. 
Anyone worldwide is welcome to join this course. Please note that our call times are Monday or Tuesday evenings Mountain Standard Time (USA) so you might consider what time that is in your time zone before signing up. All call recordings are shared in the student portal after each call so if you were in a different time zone you could weekly recordings. That being said, being able to make the zoom calls live will add to your learning experience. Feel free to email us if you have any questions about this!

What is the Enrollment process?

Once enrollment is open, you will be able to grab your spot in the course. Upon enrolling and paying tuition, students will be sent in-depth onboarding instructions along with access to the online student learning portal where all class documents, videos, and communications will exist. 

We also recommend you watch the "About the Course" video on our homepage before signing up or if you have any remaining questions.

what do i need to prepare for enrollment?

Once you enroll in the course, we will ask that you send in the following documents so we can get to know you better!
  • Letter of Intent: Please provide a Letter of Intent specific to MTC. We want to hear what your intentions, motives, and goals are for the course are. This can be a good time to tune into your own dreams and write out how you want to show up for the next 6 months and beyond. 
  • Portfolio: This can include website, instagram, drawings, tattoo designs, illustrations, flash sheets, or any medium you have or are currently working in. If you do not currently have a portfolio, please share what creative avenues you have pursued in the past or what brings you to want to become a tattooer.

What are the course dates?

Course calls are typically hosted on Tuesday evenings from 5:30-7:30PM MST (USA).

is there opportunity for in-person learning?

Chloé, your instructor will offer shadow days at her shop MADÉ Tattoo in Denver along with in-person learning opportunities yearly. Timing will depend on students, instructor availability, and course end dates. 

is this course for beginners? What if I am an experienced tattooer? How do I know this course is a good fit for me?

Yes! This course is primarily geared towards students with little to no experience. We have had artists previously join the course previously who were at a beginner level (maybe haven given a few tattoos but still navigating their learning curve) and thought it was very beneficial to them. You can refer to the "About the Course" video on our homepage which will explain in more detail who the course is geared towards.

Our priority is making sure this course is a good fit for you. what does the course and syllabus cover?

is this an apprenticeship?

This is not an apprenticeship. It is a viable and proven alternative or addition to the apprenticeship route. We welcome and support all pathways into tattooing and this course has proven to be a successful path for creatives wanting to start their career as a tattooer with or without an apprenticeship. 

will we get a license from this course? will we learn about regulations and licensing?

The reality of the tattoo industry is that standards and licensing vary from city to city and even county to county. You will receive a Letter of Completion upon completing the course requirements and required numbers of practice hours on fake skin, along with the "go ahead" from your instructor, Chloé, to start taking clients. Part of the course curriculum touches on licensing based on your city, state, and / or country, in order to help support students gain clarity and the knowledge they need in order to start their practice and / or eventually open their own private studio or body art establishment. 

is there a refund policy?

We have a strict no refund policy. If you pay tuition via a payment plan, you are responsible for fulfilling the payment plan, regardless of your participation in the course. Your decision to cease participation in The Mindful Tattoo course for any reason does not eliminate your responsibility to complete the payment plan. If you have any questions keeping you from enrolling or that you need answered prior to enrolling, feel free to email us at contact@chloejanetattoos.com.

what can I expect to spend on supplies?

Estimated spend on supplies starts around $3,000

  • Please note you will get access to an in-depth introduction video and document about all supplies needed for an entire tattoo station setup.
  • Keep all of your receipts and keep write offs in mind. We will discuss bookkeeping and write offs in detail in the course.

How much is tuition? do you offer payment plans?

Tuition is $2,850. We have a one-time payment option, as well as the option to use Klarna or Affirm to create a custom-made payment plan of your choosing. The payment plan options are dictated by Klarna and Affirms policies. Please note that Tuition does not include spend on supplies. You are responsible for purchasing your own supplies once you receive the in-depth supply list and course onboarding video once you enroll.
