is this a self-guided course? is IT a live course? CAN I TAKE THIS COURSE IF I LIVE OUTSIDE OF THE U.S.?

The MTC is a community-based fine-line tattoo course. The course consists of 14 weeks online classroom calls, and a 3 day in-person learning event in Denver, CO that takes place in the middle of the course, in which we dive into the entirety of the curriculum in a hands-on manner. The course also includes an online learning portal where course recordings, powerpoints, video tutorials and content, and homework assignments are shared.
Anyone worldwide is welcome to join this course. Please note that our call times are weekly at 5:30pm Mountain Time so you might consider what time that is in your time zone before signing up. All call recordings are shared in the student portal after the weekly calls so if you were in a different time zone you could watch weekly recordings, however I request al students to join the calls live as this is a community learning space and there is opportunity for live Q&A and teaching that benefits from us being together weekly on a live call.

when are the course calls?

All online course calls take place weekly on Tuesday evenings 5:30PM - 7:30PM Mountain Time. The course start date and in-person learning date will depend on when the course is being taught each year.

what do i need to prepare for enrollment?

Once you enroll in the course, we will require you send in the following documents so we can get to know you better!

what is the in-person event?

The in-person event is a 3 day in-person teaching and practical training event. Students will travel to and gather in Denver, CO for a 3-day intensive teaching and learning event. During this time, we will cover the entirety of the course and students have the opportunity to practice and lock in everything they have learned and practice with supervision. The in-person event also includes a full shop tour and explanation of how to best set up a body art establishment per health department regulations. Students will also have the opportunity to shadow full start to finish tattoo sessions with live, real-time clients.

when are the in person events? do I get to choose which event to go to? Is it optional?

There are 2 options for the in person event. We will assign you to an in person event if you do not have a preference. You will be able to share your preference for which weekend you would like to be a part of during the onboarding process, as well as during the course.

We highly encourage students attend the in-person event. In-person and hands on learning is crucial to the success of our students' learning and practice.
The in-person events take place after Week 6 of the course.

Yes! This course is geared towards students with little to no experience. We have had many tattooers join the course previously who were at a beginner level experience and absolutely loved the course and thought it was very beneficial to them. This course also covers business management, taxes, finances, personal development, breathwork and other helpful tools and teachings that are relevant no matter your experience level. Students also get access to guest speakers who teach on color and shading, finances and bookkeeping, human design, trauma’s manifestation in the body, and more.

what does the course and syllabus cover?

is this an apprenticeship?

This is not an apprenticeship. It is a viable and proven alternative or addition to the apprenticeship route. We welcome and support all pathways into tattooing and this course has proven to be a successful path for creatives wanting to start their career as a tattooer with or without an apprenticeship.

will we get a license from this course? will we learn about regulations and licensing?

The reality of the tattoo industry is that standards and licensing vary from city to city and even county to county — there is a ton of grey area. You will receive a Letter of Completion upon completing the course requirements and required numbers of practice hours on fake skin, along with the "go ahead" from your instructor, Chloé, to start taking clients. Part of the course curriculum touches on licensing based on your city, state, and / or country, in order to help support students gain clarity and the knowledge they need in order to start their practice and / or eventually open their own private studio or body art establishment.

is there a refund policy?
